This page records my progress with the restoration of my 1941 Harley-Davidson WL - this H-D was used by the Union Defence Force of South Africa in World War 2. The SAUDF acquired around 4,500 motorcycles from the US War Department mid-1940 and they were used in the East Africa Campaign, the Madagascar Campaign and the North Africa Campaign.

Fine Tuning the Carburettor
Hi
Here is a video of me driving up and down the road, to fine tune the carburettor.
Hello Jaques, Really enjoyed your blog about restoring your Harley. I was put onto your blog by an old friend who I met while studying in England, many moons ago. He is now retired, and is also restoring a WWII Harley (He is in Manchester, UK). He has asked me to see if I can contact you, so here I go. I can give you my email address, not quite sure how to do personal contacts from a blog like this.
On another note, my Dad who was a bomber pilot in WWII, came back to SA, and was studying at Wits on the SA equivalent of the GI bill, and bought an old Harley, that he rode around on for several years. I even have a photo of him on it.
So laat weet, as ek jou email kan aanstuur na my pel in Engeland. groete, Paul Harper
