We had friends staying over for the weekend and I could only spend a bit of time working on the old Harley (she is more than 74 years old). Maybe I should call her the Old Lady? ;-)
Anyway. I managed to sandblast some of the small engine and gearbox parts that was painted to match the motorcycle's colour scheme - in the case of the UDF it was desert Khaki.
In the photograph are the following (from left to right):
- The front stand (had to get a second coat);
- The gearbox cover;
- The front top horn mounting bracket;
- The generator cover;
- And then the gearbox sprocket cover.
The parts were still very wet, which is why they look glossy. When dry, the colour will be a matt desert khaki colour. Remember that these motorcycles spent most of their military service in North Africa. And I have just posted the first part of a three part series on the military history of the Harley-Davidson's in the North Africa Campaign.
